Prototyping Services

Move from Concept to Working Hardware Faster, Without Skipping the Steps That Matter

At Ascenten Technologies, we work with companies that need a prototype to prove something real, whether that is form, function, manufacturability, or all three at once. As one of the trusted Prototyping service providers, we take products through every stage, from the first working build to the unit that comes off a real production line.

Our Rapid Prototyping process covers everything from an early Functional Prototype through EVT, DVT, and PVT builds, ending with a true Manufacturing Prototype that reflects what will actually ship. Every stage is aimed to solve a different kind of problem and when you skip one you pay for it later in production. Our structured approach helps catch design and manufacturing issues early, minimize the number of build cycles needed, and get hardware to volume production with fewer surprises.

Prototyping - Ascenten Technologies

Complete Prototyping Solutions

Prototyping varies greatly depending on the complexity, regulations, and required quantity of a specific product. Our engineers guide you through the process from a raw proof of concept all the way to a production ready build.

Our Engineering Expertise

Every engagement is backed by deep technical knowledge, proven methodologies, and a commitment to delivering robust and reliable products.

Functional Prototype

Before anything else, a product needs to prove that it actually works. Our Functional Prototype builds focus on validating core functionality early, so design decisions are based on real performance rather than assumptions.

A functional prototype does not need to look finished. It needs to prove the product works the way it is supposed to.

Our functional prototyping covers:

  • Proof-of-concept hardware builds
  • Core feature and performance validation
  • Sensor and interface testing
  • Early firmware integration
  • Quick design iteration based on test results
  • Risk identification before formal design freeze

EVT (Engineering Validation Test)

Once core functionality is proven, EVT builds confirm that the design works as a complete system, not just as individual features. This is where engineering assumptions get tested against real hardware behavior.

EVT is where most design flaws get caught, while changes are still relatively inexpensive to make.

Our EVT process includes:

  • Full system integration testing
  • Electrical and mechanical design verification
  • Thermal and power performance testing
  • Early compliance and safety checks
  • Design refinement based on test data
  • Build documentation for the next stage

DVT (Design Validation Test)

With the design largely locked, DVT builds confirm that the product performs reliably across real-world conditions and meets the standards it will eventually need to be certified against.

DVT builds are close to final, which means this stage tells you with confidence whether the design is ready to scale.

Our DVT process includes:

  • Environmental and reliability testing
  • Regulatory and compliance pre-testing
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) review
  • Design for Assembly (DFA) review
  • Field and stress testing
  • Final design sign-off preparation

PVT (Production Validation Test)

Before committing to full volume, PVT confirms that the product can actually be manufactured consistently, using the same tooling, processes, and supply chain that production will rely on.

A successful PVT run means the next unit built is not a prototype anymore, it is a production unit.

Our PVT process includes:

  • Production line trial runs
  • Process and yield validation
  • Final supplier and component sign-off
  • Quality control procedure validation
  • Packaging and logistics testing
  • Final documentation for mass production

Manufacturing Prototype

The final step before volume production, our Manufacturing Prototype builds are produced using actual production tooling and processes, so there are no surprises once mass manufacturing begins.

This stage closes the gap between design and manufacturing, giving your team confidence before the first full production batch runs.

Our manufacturing prototype services include:

  • Production tooling validation
  • Final assembly process testing
  • Contract manufacturer coordination
  • Pre-production quality audits
  • Final cost and yield analysis
  • Production handover documentation

Prototyping for Every Industry

Our prototyping experience spans a wide range of industries, each with its own validation requirements and production standards.

Each industry comes with its own certification and reliability expectations, and we build our prototyping plan around those requirements from the start.

Industries we serve:

  • Industrial automation and control systems
  • Medical devices and healthcare electronics
  • Automotive electronics
  • Consumer electronics
  • IoT and connected device platforms
  • Energy and smart metering systems
  • Fire and safety equipment
  • Telecommunications and networking

Success Story

  • Industrial grade very high speed DSL modem.
  • Challenge was to transmit and receive Ethernet packets at 100 MBPS over 1 km of PSTN twisted pair.
  • Ascenten undertook the engagement, studied relevant technologies, designed the original plastic casing, designed the hardware and delivered fully working prototypes in 32 weeks.
  • Passed all Safety, Immunity and Emissions tests at first attempt without re-spins.
  • USB and mains powered.
  • Rugged industrial operation.
  • Selectable CO and CPE mode, fast and interleaved modes, target data rate, target SNR margin.
  • Flexible band plan including 998 ISDN, 997 symmetric ISDN.
  • Compliant with ETSI, ITU and ANSI standards.
  • Ultra low cost class 2 Energy Meter for solar electricity supply with energy management features and a safety switch board.
  • Ascenten worked closely with the customer taking them from the initial feasibility research to designing the look-and-feel, the plastic molds, the hardware, the embedded software, reliability testing and deployment.
  • Produced prototypes for field testing and validation.
  • Features rugged construction and a programmable remote control.
  • Features innovative, low cost techniques to reduce self power consumption, detect under voltage, over voltage, thermal management and electronic and mechanical tamper detection.
  • A beautiful and elegant handheld called Noumic (www.noumic.com) that uses four colored lights to indicate how well you relax.
  • In a busy world with hectic lifestyles, the Noumic encourages you to have benefiting self relaxation sessions providing feedback on how well you're doing.
  • When we were engaged to build Noumic, all we were told was to envision and bring to life a beautiful monolithic device that would sense body's electrical conductivity and conclude intelligently on how well the user was relaxing.
  • Ascenten performed detailed research on the physical principle behind the phenomenon, envisioned the design and over a year delivered a perfectly working Noumic.
  • Technically, the Noumic detects changes to skin resistance as subtle as 10 ppm (0.001%).
  • Automotive closed loop air injection system optimally controls LPG/CNG supply to the air-fuel mixer depending on quality of exhaust gases.
  • A lambda sensor is utilized to measure the air-fuel (AFR) ratio in the exhaust path.
  • The AFR is efficiently controlled to minimize emissions, maximize efficiency and improve vehicle mileage.
  • Features compact size, optimal control, low cost, rugged, weatherproof make.
