IoT Engineering Services

Build Connected Products That Stay Reliable from Day One to Scale

At Ascenten Technologies, we work with companies that need IoT products to actually stay connected once they leave the lab, not just demo well on a clean network. We provide IoT Product Development services for businesses building industrial, medical, consumer, and infrastructure products that depend on dependable data flow.

From device Connectivity and Cloud Integration to Edge Computing and Device Management, we cover the full IoT stack across industrial automation, medical devices, automotive electronics, consumer products, and smart infrastructure. Every layer is built around the network conditions your product will actually face, not the ones it sees in a demo.

IoT Engineering - Ascenten Technologies

Our structured engineering process helps catch connectivity and integration problems before they become field issues, and gets devices to a state your team can deploy and manage at scale.

Complete IoT Engineering Solutions

Every connected product runs on its own mix of protocols, cloud services, and deployment conditions. Our engineers work through each layer of that stack, from the radio on the board to the dashboard your customer sees, so the final product stays online when it matters.

Our Engineering Expertise

Every engagement is backed by deep technical knowledge, proven methodologies, and a commitment to delivering robust and reliable products.

IoT Product Development

Our IoT Product Development work covers the product end to end, from initial architecture through hardware, firmware, and cloud connectivity. We do not bolt connectivity onto a finished design after the fact, we build it in from the start.

We work through the entire chain, since a connected product is only as reliable as its weakest link, whether that is the antenna, the firmware, or the cloud backend.

Our capabilities include:

  • IoT product architecture and planning
  • Hardware and firmware co-design for connected devices
  • Protocol selection based on power, range, and data needs
  • Prototype to production IoT development
  • Security architecture for connected products
  • Field trial support and iteration

Connectivity

Getting a device online is easy. Keeping it online through walls, interference, and weak signal is the actual engineering problem. Our Connectivity engineering focuses on links that hold up outside controlled test conditions.

We test connections in the kind of environments customers actually use, not just an open lab bench with a clean signal.

Our connectivity engineering covers:

  • Wi-Fi, BLE, and Zigbee integration
  • Cellular connectivity (2G/3G/4G/NB-IoT/LTE-M)
  • LoRa and LoRaWAN network design
  • Antenna design and RF optimization
  • Mesh networking for multi-device deployments
  • Connectivity testing under real-world interference

Cloud Integration

Data is only useful once it reaches somewhere your team or your customer can act on it. Our Cloud Integration work connects devices to the cloud platforms your product already depends on, or helps you choose one if it does not yet.

We build the pipeline so data arrives where it needs to, in the format your application expects, without manual cleanup on the other end.

Our cloud integration services include:

  • AWS IoT, Azure IoT, and Google Cloud IoT integration
  • MQTT and REST API integration
  • Device-to-cloud data pipeline design
  • Cloud dashboard and analytics integration
  • Over-the-air update infrastructure
  • Data security and encrypted transmission

Edge Computing

Sending all these bytes to the cloud isn't always the best option, sometimes network latency, bandwidth, or connectivity isn't reliable. That's why with our Edge Computing work, we decentralize processing to a point nearer to the device and allow products to operate offline.

Processing data closer to where it is generated cuts down on bandwidth costs and keeps products functional even during a network drop.

Our edge computing capabilities include:

  • Local data processing and filtering
  • On-device machine learning inference
  • Edge-to-cloud data synchronization
  • Low-latency decision making at the device level
  • Bandwidth optimization for constrained networks
  • Edge gateway hardware and firmware design

Device Management

Shipping a connected product is the easy part. Managing thousands of them in the field, each running different firmware versions and reporting different health states, is where most IoT deployments actually struggle. Our Device Management work is built for that scale.

We design device management around the assumption that something will eventually fail in the field, so recovery is built in rather than improvised later.

Our device management services include:

  • Remote provisioning and onboarding
  • Fleet monitoring and health diagnostics
  • Over-the-air firmware update management
  • Device authentication and access control
  • Lifecycle management from deployment to decommissioning
  • Alerting and anomaly detection across device fleets

IoT Engineering for Every Industry

Our IoT engineering experience spans a wide range of industries, each with its own connectivity demands and uptime expectations.

Each industry comes with its own constraints around uptime, security, and regulatory compliance. We design connectivity with those requirements in mind from the first architecture decision.

Industries we serve:

  • Industrial automation and control systems
  • Medical devices and healthcare electronics
  • Automotive electronics
  • Consumer electronics
  • Smart metering and energy systems
  • Fire and safety equipment
  • Telecommunications and networking
  • Smart infrastructure and agriculture

Success Story

  • Industrial grade very high speed DSL modem.
  • Challenge was to transmit and receive Ethernet packets at 100 MBPS over 1 km of PSTN twisted pair.
  • Ascenten undertook the engagement, studied relevant technologies, designed the original plastic casing, designed the hardware and delivered fully working prototypes in 32 weeks.
  • Passed all Safety, Immunity and Emissions tests at first attempt without re-spins.
  • USB and mains powered.
  • Rugged industrial operation.
  • Selectable CO and CPE mode, fast and interleaved modes, target data rate, target SNR margin.
  • Flexible band plan including 998 ISDN, 997 symmetric ISDN.
  • Compliant with ETSI, ITU and ANSI standards.
  • Ultra low cost class 2 Energy Meter for solar electricity supply with energy management features and a safety switch board.
  • Ascenten worked closely with the customer taking them from the initial feasibility research to designing the look-and-feel, the plastic molds, the hardware, the embedded software, reliability testing and deployment.
  • Produced prototypes for field testing and validation.
  • Features rugged construction and a programmable remote control.
  • Features innovative, low cost techniques to reduce self power consumption, detect under voltage, over voltage, thermal management and electronic and mechanical tamper detection.
  • A beautiful and elegant handheld called Noumic (www.noumic.com) that uses four colored lights to indicate how well you relax.
  • In a busy world with hectic lifestyles, the Noumic encourages you to have benefiting self relaxation sessions providing feedback on how well you're doing.
  • When we were engaged to build Noumic, all we were told was to envision and bring to life a beautiful monolithic device that would sense body's electrical conductivity and conclude intelligently on how well the user was relaxing.
  • Ascenten performed detailed research on the physical principle behind the phenomenon, envisioned the design and over a year delivered a perfectly working Noumic.
  • Technically, the Noumic detects changes to skin resistance as subtle as 10 ppm (0.001%).
  • Automotive closed loop air injection system optimally controls LPG/CNG supply to the air-fuel mixer depending on quality of exhaust gases.
  • A lambda sensor is utilized to measure the air-fuel (AFR) ratio in the exhaust path.
  • The AFR is efficiently controlled to minimize emissions, maximize efficiency and improve vehicle mileage.
